Setup Procedure

The absolute position counter is powered by an internal backup source that will keep the counter circuitry active for a period of 30 days in the absence of DC power.

When unboxng the product, the internal storage should be considered to be in a discharged state. To charge.

  1. Connect DC power in accordance with the product manual.
  2. Allow the unit to charge for a period of 45-minutes to one-hour. During this time programming and commissioning the unit may be performed.
  3. The internal storage level my be queried via the communications or network interface.
  4. Consider the application. Will the machine in which the LMD product is going into be unpowered, with the requirement for position updates and retention, for more than 30 days?

If so the Encoder Backup Battery Pack ICP0531 is recommended.This accessory will extend the data retention and update time to five (5) years on up to six (6) Lexium MDrive absolute encoder products.
